Standards of beauty in regard to the female form change
with time. Our culture considers thinness a necessary
attribute of beauty, but this is a view that I don't share, and what
I intended to express with this sculpture. The sculpture was
inspired by the work of Gaston Lachaise. who, in turn, stated
that his inspiration was his wife, Isabel Nagle. Although my
sculpture has no resemblance to this woman, it is dedicated to her. |
